Context
Investment banking operates within a highly regulated environment, where strict compliance standards and supervised financial workflows are essential to ensure transparency, mitigate risk, and meet legal obligations across every transaction.

Thorough Auditing
Our first step was to conduct a comprehensive audit of the current tools and ways of working to identify pain points and areas of improvements.
We analyzed the workflows and information flows between teams (compliance, customer success, engineering, etc), the UX of the platform used by the internal teams to manage users and their deals, as well as the UX and UI of the customer-facing platform.

User interviews
In parallel to the auditing, we performed interviews with investment bankers (their primary customers) to gain deeper insight into their pain points, both within and beyond the product, as well as their ideal workflows and processes.
These conversations provided us with an additional perspective that helped us uncover current shortcomings and identify potential business opportunities.
User research is crucial to understand the legal ramifications that design decisions can have within such a context.
Crafting the Vision
Building on the insights from earlier phases, we prototyped the core experiences of the future platform to bring the vision to life and create a shared reference point for internal alignment.
The prototype served as both a communication and alignment tool, and as a north star to guide upcoming development efforts.

Turning the Vision into Reality
With the vision aligned across the Finalis team, we moved into execution. We defined the product roadmap, prioritized features, broke them down into phased releases, and planned design sprints to deliver the final experience iteratively.
This phase required close collaboration with the executive, product, and engineering teams to update the design system and craft pixel-perfect screens capable of handling a wide range of scenarios, from success messages to system errors and button states.
At the end of our fruitful collaboration, the Finalis team were able to continue working with their development team to implement the designs.
