Building an Interactive Journey for Data-Driven Fleet Optimization

Geotab needed a way to help customers quickly grasp the real-world benefits of their telematics platform – how it saves money, improves safety, and supports sustainability across fleets. Block Zero designed Driving ROI, an interactive experience that translates complex data into a clear, hands-on journey built around customer outcomes.

The installation gives participants a chance to explore scenarios tailored to their fleet type and business goals. Through guided decisions, live feedback, and engaging visual storytelling, the experience makes abstract ROI claims tangible and memorable. It became both a conversation starter and a strategic sales tool, helping Geotab connect their offering directly to what their customers care about most.

The Narrative Thread

The project started with an in-depth narrative workshop to map out the customer journey, core use cases, and measurable benefits Geotab provides across different fleet types. These insights were transformed into a guided story that made complex telematics data tangible and personal.

Physical Storytelling meets Digital Feedback

The Driving ROI table combined tactile and digital layers into a cohesive whole. Twisting and placing physical tokens triggered responses in the interface, built on Block Zero's custom Presentation Engine™ platform. Gamification was subtly embedded, rewarding consistent speed, smart decisions, and safety-first thinking.

The table supported multiple simultaneous players, enabling spontaneous group discussions and competitive play.

Turning Interaction into Intelligence

Every journey through the Driving ROI experience was tied to the player's email address, capturing their selected road, answers to questions, and behavioral patterns throughout the session. This allowed Geotab to connect qualitative preferences with specific customer profiles, revealing what outcomes mattered most, whether it was safety, efficiency, or sustainability.

Beyond the immediate engagement, the data offered long-term value. It gave Geotab a new layer of insight into how their customers perceive and prioritize the platform's features, and how those priorities vary by segment. These inputs now serve as a foundation for more targeted outreach, refined messaging, and future product positioning.

Outcomes

The experience launched at Geotab Connect to strong engagement. It turned abstract ROI claims into a series of concrete interactions, reinforcing the value of data-driven fleet management. Driving ROI sparked interest not only from attendees and existing customers, but also internally within Geotab.

Over the course of the event, 254 unique journeys were completed, each one capturing a participant's priorities, choices, and answers across the experience.

The interest and momentum led the marketing team to approach Block Zero with a follow-up challenge: to imagine a portable version of the experience that could travel between trade shows, continuing to communicate Geotab's story in an interactive and scalable format.
